Selective Service

It’s the law…  all male U.S. citizens and male immigrants residing in the United States who are ages 18 + must register for selective service.  This is even more pertinent for those male students thinking of attending college after high school and would need financial aid. 

Although there has been much discussion on this point, at this time, females are still exempt from this requirement.

Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students

The State Plan provides requirements for and guidance to districts as they meet the unique needs of the gifted/talented population in Texas.  A gifted/talented student is a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, and experience.

ACT test registration

Seniors should take either the SAT or the ACT university admissions exam by the January testing date.  Juniors should seriously consider taking one of the exams in the Spring by the July testing date:

SAT registration and practice

Seniors should take either the SAT or the ACT for university admissions by the DECEMBER test date listed below.  Juniors should seriously consider taking either exam at the end of the year, especially by May or June if they are interested in attending college after graduating high school.

Test and College Preparation offered by the US Army

March 2 Success is a FREE website providing our users access to online study materials to help improve their scores on standardized tests such as state exit exams, college entrance exams, military entrance exam (ASVAB) and others.  Our content includes self-paced study programs in Math, English and Science, with a focus of materials on grades 8-12.  The High School Math and Verbal Skills course and College Readiness online course each start with a pre-assessment test, using the results to generate a custom learning path.  The learning path includes interactive lessons, quizzes and additional practice tests.  The High School Science Hub provides lessons and practice tests in Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Apply to Texas Colleges & Universities

When you are a SENIOR:  To apply to any Texas public (and most private) university or college, simply go to ApplyTexas.org. Fill out a profile and it will save the information so you can apply to more than one college or university within the State of Texas. You will also pay an application fee for each college to which you apply. Remember, if you used an SAT or ACT Exam Fee Waiver (for being on free or reduced lunch), you have up to 4 college application fee waivers. See Mrs. Daniel prior to submitting your application.
