Richards ISD Bond Election Information
On February 11th, 2020 the Richards ISD school board called a bond election for May 2, 2020. The last successful bond was in 1965 for $180,000 for the current RISD building. The 50+ year old buildings are showing significant signs of plumbing and utility issues. Asbestos prevents the upgrade of the lighting, new carpet, and other in-house renovations.
RISD has increased its student enrollment by 49.6% over the last 10 years. This enrollment increase and time have placed a strain on the 50+ year old facilities. RISD has been using portable buildings for the past 10 years for classrooms and storage. Based on historical trends we are projecting in the next 5 years, the enrollment at Richards ISD to be approximately 238 students, a 27.3% increase over current enrollment.
